Perth is just 1 of the option for year end holiday cum fishing package, maybe Brisbane/Tasmania also not bad. But then no jigging ground, go target KBL instead.

    How to pay? No account?

Travel all the way by flight 8 hrs to target KBL/Nile perch, might as well stay in sg.

Not a good place for fishing within HCMC. Mostly fresh water pond. Muddy too like milo. Fishes are mostly carp. Its just like Jakarta in Indonesia. HCMC, being at the south of Vietnam is in the Delta area (marsh land). Local anglers (past time or chari makan anglers) had already wiped out most of the catches. Catch and release is not the vocab.

You have to charter a fishing boat, a true fishing boat with discomfort creature to target those pelagics. YFTs are bountiful in the South China Sea. But you have to go far. My 2 cents worth, don;t bother. I may be wrong.

However, there are many other things to do in HCMC. A true heaven for ladies for shoes and handbags shopping. Try visit the Chu Chi tunnel, a vast underground tunnel built by the Vietcongs. 7 layers of tunnel. Myself, can only fit the second, 1 being the easiest. Food is cheap especially seafood. But remember if you are eating not in restaurant, make sure you eat piping hot food. Phoe (beef noodle) is great and so is Hue food. ALso watch out out what you eat. The last like I ended up eating Bull Pennis soup, kenna played out by my own kaki (including a girl). I was naive then.

For guys looking for cheoing (KTV or Beer Om) especially looking for those small waist Viet lass donning an Au Dai (pronoucned as Au Yai) ....ha.. ha....try remember few Viet words like "Emm dep lam" or "Emm, Ann U Emm". Leanrt these from a "Long Hair Dictionary". not Longman

Have fun, but not too much FUN. Remember, this is not Bangkok. Vietnam is still a socialist and the Kong Ann is powerful.

    Happy holiday

Was in HCMC in Oct-Nov last year. Could not find any leads to local fishing. Even my vietnam colleagues didn't know.
However I frequently came across men in motocycles carrying rods. They were probably fishing the many streams and small rivers for catfish.
If you are in Saigon, try to visit the two major markets to see the fish on sale - mostly catfish, some kind of barb. All freshwater.
