Beginner in (bc/luring)

afaduoza
Hi fellow anglers,

Im new to luring and using bc as my reel, need recommendation for an average set up.
Will mainly be used for saltwater luring. (Mainly KBL or grouper)

Recommendation for

-Rods?

- Lefty BC reels?

- Mainline? (Braided or full fluro? Poundage?)

- Types of lures to use?

- Adviseable hooks?

Any other tips or advise will be greatly appreciated.

Some good information would be what Rod and Reel are you using, advising you from there will be easy peasy. Thanks dude.

    Hi Luke,

Im planning to get myself a whole new set up, both rod n reel. Little unsure on what rod to get, but i intended to get a curado dc as my first bc.

just go to a tackle shop and they will recommend some, just choose your preferred setup

@afaduoza have you considered a spinning 2500 HG reel with a 8 - 16 type of rod or around there as an all rounder, it's just easier to use bro.

For BC, I think you should get a 200 or 201 sized BC if you do get one. Also you will want to stick to lures 10 grams to 18 grams for starters, get a slightly longer 2 piece rod like 6'3 or 6'5.

Check the Classifieds bro, get pre loved first to see what you want.

    Hi bro,

Then how about the mainline for bc?
Because ive been advise to use around 20-30lb.
But if im doing light jigs or lures than weight around 7-20grams, those lines will affect my casting right?
Im used to get thin n small rated PE line for my soinning last time, and i also understand BC is different than a spinning as it can get birdsnest for many different factor, or even lines going in the spool if its too thin or not spooled up properly with tension.

So what lb will be best for me? And which brand will be recommended? Hmm

Go light....  10lb - 14lb braid is more than enuff for most of the situations.
