If SFAS and GARs never come together and go propose such a good idea, this wouldnt be implemented at all. Kudos to them.

Are they referring to Freshwater or Shore Fishing?

    1. Does Shore angler affect the eco system in Singapore?

If it is so then they should get rid of those ship that park in Singapore Water as they pollute our water and killing more seawater life form than angler.

    2. If we pay, does that mean that we can use live bait in reservior?

    3. There is not such place left for us to fish, yet with further restriction, it will force us into illegal fishing. Then they can fine more, make more money.

    4. Sporting fishing is not a main attraction in Singapore, unlike Austrilla and New Zealand. They really protect their live stock.
For Singapore, we do not have big game fishes, so no attraction.

    5. Is the license transferable, like golf country club, then it will be big time business.

    6. Why to we need a license to fish in the first place? We do not catch any decent size fishes everytime we fish. Most of the time we are Zero Fighter. If Zero Fighter also can hurt the eco system, Please get the authority to explan, how we hust the eco system?

    7. Do not make use of the name of Mother Nature to make money, this is unforgivable.

    Just my personal opinion.

thats right i agree with you

From another point of view . I dont mind paying if it means that they are going to restock the waterbodies and implement bag limits . If we are just going to pay to get a license to fish then of cause it wont make sense but if they are going to see how to make sport fishing sustainable i think its resonable . In Singapore as we all know, fishing has not been very sustainable .

So for them to restock water bodies, implement and enforce bag limits, how much you willing to pay? $1000 a year? $100 a year? Maybe they are going to get Cisco security to stand guard at our legal areas!
  • fishingjojoman
In other countries this has been implemented for very long and fishing as i know is good over there . From what i know its not that expensive . Last i heard is a guy from Canada paying about 20 plus ? Really not sure ,but fishing has been good for him .
  • J-Fish-Y
I heard from my teacher who's from canada that they pay i think around 15 canadian dollars for a license that last them for quite sometime i cant remember if its 1 year or 2 years, but if license is reasonable and the fee is reasonable as well i don't mind paying for it.

Would you pay for fishing at LSR Legal Area? Worst of all, you, a paying fisho sees china baiters who do not have license, taking back everything they catch?

Anyway, Straits times put Sydney fishos pay A$7 for a 3 days license and A$75 for a 1 year license.
  • fishingjojoman
What i mean is . If i am going to pay i expect them to do something about the dire fishing situation we are all in . Well why we have all e tao paoers now because there are no bag limit . Free for all take all you want bag limits will limit e size and number of fish you can take . For now the most e China baiter can be caught for is for using bait . If we have a license then they can be caught for so many more thing ! Is that not better ! He he he
  • Icebomb
They're not getting caught now. SO even if enforce bag limit, who go catch them? China baiters don't do much damage. Bangla or China netters do even more damage...
  • fishingjojoman
The thing is if im paying i expect them to solve all these problem . We are not paying now so of cause you cant expect so much right ? What I am trying to say is . The lisencing system in other country have been proven to work and inprove fishing . I do not mind paying IF it makes fishing better and sustainable .
  • J-Fish-Y
I see well thanks for the useful info again

Tis is suppose to be a leisure activities, y make it so difficult for pple like us? By issuing license and restrictive fishing, u expect us to patronise the casino more issit? Or encourage us to look out for lonely gals and give them a good f x x k? Wat they expect fr doing tis? Marlins, GTs, YFTs start flocking our waters and give sport fishing a good name in here? Next time issue licence to have sio gan lar...or issue licence in order to start a scandal. Lao ku bye...PUI!!!!! Nbcb...all the useless people coming out with crap ideas

"Local fishing groups such as the Sport Fishing Association of Singapore (SFAS) and the Gamefish and Aquatic Rehabilitation Society (Gars) are working with national water agency PUB to come up with a licensing scheme for fishing."-straits times

"PUB's director of catchment and waterways, Mr Tan Nguan Sen, told The Straits Times in an e-mail: 'By controlling the number of anglers, it is hoped that the ecosystem will not be affected while sustaining sport fishing as a popular recreational activity.'"
-Sounds more like reserviours, PUB is not interesteed in sea water for now.
  • paul yeo
are we going to have something like our driving licence, for example, new fishing lience.

    1. Below 1kg - class 2
    2. 1kg - 3kg - Class 2A
    3. 3kg - 5kg - Class 2B
    4. 5kg - 10kg - Class 3
    5. 10kg - 30kg - Class 4
    6. 30kg & above- Class 5

So what about those Non Licence Anglers & Foreign Workers, are the Authority going to send someone like CISCO to stand guard of all places where there is water and fish living in it? Or send in more Car Park Attendance to all water side instead of Car Park?

Wah, now got somemore new shouting, instead what you heard at any coffee, "Car Park Lai Loh", in future, this will be heard at all Reservoir....

Joke aside, personally, I find this idea is so NAIVE, franky, I do support the idea and what other country had been practising, it is used to control the numbers on certain fish species that had been endangered due to over fishing.

But what do we had here in Singapore? PUB even put up sign on longkang leading to the sea. What are they trying to protact? It just puzzle me ??!!??!!
  • blebob
like that fish tamban also must pay money ahh?? wat the.....
maybe they will install turnstile / gantry at the entrance of Bedok Jetty. They before you go out, they will weigh your catch and pay by the Kilo? PAP means Pay And Pay??
  • flairco
not a matter of money. $1.00 1 year maybe i won't pay also. matter of principal man. waste of time to even think of such a scheme.
  • MR HOOKS
